Globlalscope Thailand - Final Day Part 2

As American Christians, it is easy for us to forget the power of the gospel and the fact that it is the ultimate GOOD news. In the US, it is familiar, old news, it's lost it's shock factor. But in Thailand, the gospel is revolutionary and has changed the lives of our amazing Thai friends and their families. I want to share this reality of the transformational power of the gospel by sharing the story of one of the Grapevine students. This student and her sister had a really hard childhood that included abandonment, exploitation, abuse, and other challenges most children don't have to deal with. With a Buddhist upbringing, the two girls had never heard of Jesus until the older sister began attending Grapevine where she became a regular and eventually committed her life to Christ. Extremely timid and shy at first, she has transformed into an outgoing, friendly, and faithful young woman who is now joining the Grapevine staff. Not only will she continue to make an impact on students at Thammasat, but she has already made an eternal impact on her family members. This past year, the girls' mother became very ill and passed away. However, after seeing the change in her daughter and hearing about the gospel for herself, their mother's last words were, "I'll wait for you in heaven." A Buddhist doesn't want to be in heaven so these words meant a major change of heart.

Now that's GOOD. Even with the pain and grief that the students go through because the loss of their mother, they can have hope that they will see their mom again and that God is still good.

After meeting these students and participating in the Grapevine ministry, our team is confident that God will continue to make these stories the norm versus the exception in Thailand.

"Krapkrua" means family in Thai. Grapevine has an incredible family feel where students are welcomed not just into a club or building but into a family. We felt a part immediately as we joined in many fun, challenging and new experiences such as visiting refugees homes, food adventures, campus ministry, Thai language/culture. It was an honor to serve with this team and we'll continue praying for them and for ways we can continue supporting what God is doing in the world and specifically at Grapevine.
