The entire team awoke with very tender hearts and much excitement after an amazing day in the communities of Las Palmas and San Sebastián yesterday. It was quite serendipitous that our morning Bible study focused on seeking the 'Shalom' of the city. Jean-Luc descriptively walked us through the very detailed conversations that many prophets engaged in with nations reluctant to follow the beautiful vision God has for us. In the end, we acknowledged that one's peace, one's fellowship and one's prosperity is attained if we set our efforts in the Shalom of our cities and nations.

This message continued to resonate as we embarked on our fourth day of construction at Centro Renovar. We were able to pour concrete in the ditches everyone has been working on every day. It was quite an accomplishment and we were happy to see the next phase in the footing project happen before we leave this weekend.

But the highlight of the day was the privilege of breaking bread with the humble and hard working construction team that we have been helping all week. Our daily interactions have been fun, but today we got to know them on a personal level. Ada, the talented woman taking care of us made us delicious sandwiches that Nato (her husband) brought to us. We sat in the shade at the site, with a beautiful breeze, and a peace and calm that truly overwhelmed us all.

We learned that a majority come from Las Palmas, one of the communities Conexión is helping; the majority have children, and one gentleman (affectionately called El Abuelo [Grandpa]) has three grandchildren; their commutes average two hours each way; but most important, they believe that "With God all things are possible".

We could not be more grateful and humbled at the amazing opportunity to heed God's calling to seek Shalom in this wonderful place! It is hard to believe tomorrow is our last full day .. it will definitely bittersweet, but we have no doubt it will be great!
