Day Two - A Day of Fellowship and Friendship

Today (Friday) was the Muslim Holy Day, like Sunday back in the USA. It’s an Afghan’s one day of the week to restore, relax, and spend precious time with family and close friends. Schools and businesses are closed and Afghans look for other ways to simply be together.

Our team began our day with a time of fellowship with members of our host organization's international staff who have been living in Kabul for the last couple years and we were joined by several other aid workers from various international organizations. We thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie and conversation and learned a lot as everyone openly shared their deepest thoughts – pro and con – of life in Afghanistan.

After our time together, the team finalized our preparations for our visit to the Adult Training Center tomorrow where we are eager to spend time with the teachers and in some of the classes.

After lunch several members of our host’s Afghan staff surprised us by coming back to the guest house to simply hang out with our team – on their day off. We had a great time sharing stories, playing pranks on each other, and deepening the friendships we’ve been building with our Afghan “family” over the last 10 years.

Thank you for joining us on this journey.
