A*ghanistan Barek Aub Team - Day 3

To experience some of the contrasts available in Afghanistan, you need to be “in town” and you need to “get out of town.” Today, we did both - visiting our friends in rural Barek Aub and then touring two schools in the bustling heart of Kabul.

While still lacking in basic infrastructure, Barek Aub is quickly becoming more of a village and less of a refuge camp. In the last five years, the road to Barek Aub has been paved and is now filled with traffic, and the open spaces between Kabul and Barek Aub are becoming less open and more developed.

Even little changes inside the Barek Aub clinic point towards progress - pharmacy drugs are now stored in real cabinets instead of being stacked on crudely built wooden shelves.

After another delicious lunch at the guest house, we toured the adult training center in Kabul, meeting several students who are taking computer classes. And we learned more about the programs that Sozo provides to enable young adult students to learn several different trades - at no cost to the students. The work that Sozo is doing is amazing and is changing lives.
