Musana VBS - Blog 2

From Failure to Victory!

We’ve completed two days of VBS and have seen failure turned to victory overnight! I’ll be honest, the first day was a little rough. Lots of chaos among the excitement of new T-shirts and blaring music, forgotten supplies, groups running late, other groups waiting and feelings of frustration and failure. We met with the Musana staff after day 1 of VBS, worked out a few kinks and day 2 may just be one of the happiest days of my life! Every station was well prepared, the Musana staff felt confident and positive about their work, our team was swarmed with a sea of African children and there was so. much. joy!!!!! The children learned the songs before we arrived and they sing at the top of their lungs to the music playing in three different places around campus.

The Bible story today was on Rahab and was told by Julius, Ester and Henry. I’ve seen a lot of great kid’s Bible teaching. A whole lot. Probably thousands of stories. But this might be the best teaching I have ever seen! Every child (all 150 of them) were glued to the stage, laughing, listening and learning. I sat in the back of the room with a smile pasted to my face, my jaw on the ground and my heart so full I honestly thought it might burst! It was one of the best things I’ve ever seen in my life. It is truly heavenly to hear so many children both Christian and Muslim singing about and to Jesus with such amazing joy and hope. I love this place.
