Our journey to help tear down the homes of these beautiful people continued today, but has, now, come to an end. Closing my eyes I can still see glimpses of the many faces we saw - young and old; happy and sad.
I am sitting in a van stuffed with 13 tired but affected volunteers. We are driving away from some of the worst earthquake damage in Mexico, but agree that we have all had a glimpse into the face of our savior.
As with everyday before we were overwhelmed by the generosity and greatfullness expressed to us through offering water and other drinks; fruit; and meals made from makeshift or meager kitchens. We were also overwhelmed with the loss we saw all around us but a prevailing spirit of peace and thankfulness from those that experienced that loss. We are heading back to the Mexico City area to stay with our host just one more night before or return flight home.
